14th Youth Song and Dance Festival, 29th Song Festival and 22nd Dance Festival: \u2018The Way We Are\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018The Way We Are\u2019 is a love story thousands of years in the making: love for our home, for the land on which we live, for the language, culture and customs that bind us to those who came before us \u2013 including those who, just six generations ago, gathered at a song festival as simple countryfolk and left it as the Estonian nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 150 or so years since then, we have continued to converge at song and dance festivals and have sought, found and nurtured freedom in the very things that make us Estonian. These events have become an eagerly anticipated and indeed cherished way for us to come together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On this occasion, our big extended family will be gathering at the Song Festival for the 29th time, at the Dance Festival for the 22nd time and at the Youth Song and Dance Festival for the 14th time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Much-loved songs that have sustained our nation\u2019s spirit and sense of identity in times of both celebration and hardship will ring out, joined as ever by new tunes \u2013 some of which may well go on to become part of the Song Festival\u2019s repertoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Underpinning the Dance Festival will be the sense of balance that has sustained our nation through the ages: in good times and bad, in joy and sorrow, through storms and rain to brighter days. With performers of all ages coming together, an unprecedented number of dancers will be taking part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Folk Music Festival will be held at the Estonian Open Air Museum, and it is from there \u2013 where the land meets the sea \u2013 that the tunes and songs the folk musicians will be performing on this occasion have their origins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These joint celebrations promise to be the greatest ever, with three generations uniting to explore what it means to be Estonian. May their voices and music resonate and their dance moves captivate on every stage so that the way we are, a proud and free nation, rises up to the skies and finds its place in eternity!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 14th Youth Song and Dance Festival, the 29th Song Festival and the 22nd Dance Festival will be held in Tallinn from 30 June-9 July 2028. The artistic director of the Song Festival will be Riivo J\u00f5gi, the main choreographer of the Dance Festival will be Kadri Tiis and the creative director of the Folk Music Festival will be Enrik Visla.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
